We’ve been living in the era of “the bob” for quite some time now (no complaints here: it looks fabulous on everyone), but it came as a pleasant surprise when many of this year’s Met attendees opted for long and whimsical as opposed to angular and modern for their hair looks—and we couldn’t be more in love with the idea.
Leaning very much into the “Garden of Time” theme, some of our favourite stars took the creative freedom to let their hair down and be one with nature. Lady Godiva seemed to be the main source of hair inspiration of the night as long, whimsical waves were sported by Zoe Saldana, Simone Ashley, Sarah Jessica Parker, Harris Reed, Kendall Jenner, and many more. Others stuck to their tried and true styles, with Ariana Grande wearing her signature long pony and Naomi Campbell going sleek and straight with her iconic long strands. Of course, whilst Dove Cameron’s entrance was unparalleled when you considered who her arm candy was, we’ll gladly attest to the fact that her delicious beach waves falling down the small of her back added a sultry touch like no other. And the beauty—forgive the pun—of long hair is its versatility: it can be worn in so many ways, like La La Anthony’s sleek high pony adorned with a coquette-like bow or Kaia Gerber’s retro delivery with a coif that complemented her pristine white gown. This year’s red carpet has us wanting to grow out our hair to add the same extra romance and whimsy to our beauty lives.
